New Grants Announced
The foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of two new grants:
A grant to the Theater for the New City, New York, to support the production of Women of the Wind, by Barbara Kahn. The play explores the intersection of the lives of three women involved in the production of the film Gone with the Wind. Performances begin on February 5 and run through February 22. A grant to About Face Theatre, Chicago, to support the production of Abraham Lincoln Was a Faggot, by Bixby Elliott. This sure-to-be-controversial play concerns a teenager named Cal, a “questioning” youth coming to terms with his own sexuality, who “embarks on a quest to prove that one of our country’s most beloved presidents was gay.” Rehearsals for the play are scheduled to begin in May.
