Arch and Bruce Brown Fellowship Winner Receives Documentary Fund Award
Cecilia Aldarondo, whose 2014 residency at the MacDowell Colony was partly funded by an Arch and Bruce Brown Fellowship, has been named the first filmmaker to receive an award from the Roberto Guerra Documentary Fund, which was launched in 2014 to support the creation of documentary works by emerging Latin American or U.S.-based Latino/Latina filmmakers living in New York. The award will help Aldarondo complete her feature-length film Memories of a Penitent Heart, scheduled for release in 2016. Memories of a Penitent Heart has also been selected for IFP’s Independent Filmmaker Lab as well as Sundance Institute’s Edit and Story Lab. In 2015, Aldarondo was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film.
