The foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of two new grants:
A grant to Bluebarn Theatre, of Omaha, Neb., to help support its work in Omaha’s LGBT community. This month, Bluebarn is producing Standing on Ceremony, a set of short plays, by well-known gay playwrights, about same-sex marriage. Visit Bluebarn’s website for more information about the performances.
A grant, to be administered by the Center for Independent Documentary, to filmmakers Austin Bunn and Bob Hazen to cover post-production costs for their forthcoming documentary short, In the Hollow, about the 1988 murder of a lesbian hiker on the Appalachian Trail and the ensuing push for lesbian/gay bias-crime legislation. The film is expected to premiere later this year.
Playwright Andrea Lepcio is joining the Arch and Bruce Brown Foundation’s advisory board. Ms. Lepcio is best known for Looking for the Pony, a finalist for the Dramatists Guild Hull-Warriner Award and for the NEA Outstanding New American Play Award. It was presented in a “Rolling World Premiere” Off-Broadway at Vital Theatre Company in New York and Synchronicity Performance Group in Atlanta and subsequent productions. Her plays and musicals have been produced and developed at HERE, Lark Play Development Center, New York Music Theatre Festival, TerraNova Collective, Vital Theatre, and Women’s Project, among other venues, in New York as well as regionally and internationally. We are extremely pleased to welcome her aboard.
